Rain water Harvesting - Kalpakanchery Model
A successful Rain water harvesting model was tried and tested when the founder of "Take up Initiatvie" served as an Executive director at Moopen Institute for Local Empowerment . The rian water that falls on the roofs of villages homes is funnelled via pvc pipes to plastic drum where it is filtered thorugh mixture of elements like river sand, charcoal and baby metal. A nylon net placed on the top of these filtering materials also ensure that leaves and similar particles are prevented from going inside. At the bottom end of the drum ,another pvc pipe takes the filtered water to the well.
